"Jumping Jacks"

"Jumping Jacks" (also known as the side straddle-hop) are a warm-up exercise whose purpose is to increase the flow of oxygen to your muscles in order to prepare you for further activity. The starting position is with your feet together and your hands at your sides. The exercise is a simultaneous movement of bringing your hands together over your head while hopping into the air and landing with your feet spread a shoulders distance apart (top position). The exercise is completed by simultaneouly hopping-up and bringing your hands and feet back to the starting position.  A typical counting scheme is to count the number out-loud at the top position and saying "and" at each return to the starting position.
